The Spa launches holistic healing treatment in the Philippines
The Spa, one of the country’s premier centers for health and wellness, introduced the Bowen Therapeutic Technique for the first time in the Philippines through a Wellness Seminar recently held at The Spa Wellness at The Fort Lounge at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig.
The seminar was highlighted by a teaching demonstration conducted by Andrew Zoppos, a senior international instructor of the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia, who flew in from Down Under to teach the revolutionary technique to the participating attendees.
Based on the theory that the human body possesses the ability to heal itself, the Bowen Technique is a remedial, gentle, and non-invasion treatment that triggers the body to heal especially from chronic and neurological diseases such as muscular and joint problems, emotional imbalances, internal organ conditions, chronic fatigue syndrome, stroke and stress.
Richard Uy, Executive Vice President of The Spa, said “We decided to bring the Bowen Technique to the Philippines as we find it in-line with The Spa’s philosophy of promoting wellness and a balanced life-style. It is a simple treatment that anybody can benefit from.”
The Bowen technique was discovered by Tom Bowen in the 1960s in Victoria, Australia. He developed his new-found alternative healthcare technique over the next years and became a sought-after therapist, even though he did not have a formal training in health care. His work was documented in 1986 by Oswald Rentsch and his wife, Elaine. Oswald is among the only six people that Tom Bowen personally trained to practice the technique.
The treatment consists of gentle moves performed with the thumbs and fingers over the muscle and connective tissues, introduces mechanisms for self-healing. The “moves” being conducted on a person’s body entail sending messages through the nervous system, which further retrieves the cellular memory of a preferred, relax, and balanced way of well being.
Practitioners of the Bowen Technique conform to its 3Ws: water, waiting, and walking which translates to drinking water before undergoing the Bowen Treatment, considering a waiting time before conducting one move to the next and a daily regimen of walking.
Anyone, regardless of age and health condition, can undergo a Bowen Treatment, since it promotes a positive health, quality of life and sense of well being of an individual. The treatment is also safe to be administered to children and pregnant women.
The Bowen Treatment is now available at The Spa Wellness at The Fort Lounge. For more information on the Bowen Technique, log on to http://thespa.com.ph/.
